Soul blues is a style of blues music improved in the late 1960s and emerging 1970s that blends constituents of soul music and city-like contemporary music.
Vocalists and musicians who grew up minding to the unreformed breathtaking blues of artists such as Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, Jimmy Reed and Elmore James; soul vocalists such as Sam Cooke, Ray Charles and Otis Redding; and gospel music preferred to bridge their popular music together.
